What’s your special heart warming treat every day? Every day you say? “You can’t have a special treat every day Wendy. That’s not possible. You are crazy.” But what if it is?
You are going to think I’m a crazy Nanna but my sheer bliss every day is a cup of tea. And the funny but greatest part of it is that the happiness usually happens twice over one cup of tea. I’m a huge earl grey fanatic. Black with no sugar. Love the tea. Love it strong. Love the flavour. Love the warmth. Love the break/the rest involved in a cuppa. A reminder of times past. It’s old fashioned, it’s reassuring, it’s just simply quite Nanna. I get so excited when I make the cup of tea. And it’s usually mid morning. I don’t have one first thing in the morning. I hold out. Makes it even more exciting when you get to it. The anticipation. Sometimes it’s a reward for a walk or doing a project or something. In my old job it used to be a reward for getting to 10.30 or 11am. I can’t drink it really hot. So I let it sit steeping for about 20mins or so. But almost inevitably I forget about it. And then that special moment when I see it and remember it is there. And it’s then the perfect temperature. I smile and feel a happy dance inside myself. And then I can start to drink it. Pure joy!!!!!!
Here’s yesterday’s cup of tea. It was even more special because I got beautiful assorted tea to try and a new mug for Xmas. So not only was it an incredible cup of tea (and even with the timer on, it went off and I forgot about it) but the added magic to this cup was that it felt full of love.
What’s your feel good moment every day? The first blissful coffee? Taking off your work clothes at the end of the day? Sliding into bed at night? Hugging your fur babies first thing in the morning? Is it the feeling just after you’ve cleaned your teeth? Do you savour the moment and do a huge smile or thanks for this very special moment? Does it make every day just that much more worthwhile? Does it make the more mundane days feel a bit special? The precious moments are exactly that – precious. What if you didn’t gloss over them, instead you really noticed them and appreciated them? Would that make your world lovelier?
Be kind to yourself.

Thank you Wendy for your post. It just goes to show that sometimes it’s the smallest and simplest things that are the best and make us the happiest. I look forward to my one and only daily cup of coffee in the morning and I usually have it at around 9:30am at work. Another blissful moment for me is having a little sleep-in on a Sunday, cooking breakfast and eating it on the balcony as I read the Sunday papers.
I love this so much Nadine. It’s so true isn’t it. I think sometimes we forgot to appreciate the little things when we are striving to achieve the big things!!!!! Here’s to a 2017 filled with blissful Sunday mornings for you. x
